Evolution vs Gods Garden

As a fighting game fan above all other genres, I find this to be very exciting news! Evolution is the world’s largest and fiercest fighting game tournament, an event that happens one weekend a year during the summer in Las Vegas. Gods Garden on the other hand is a smaller but still incredibly fierce fighting game tournament in Japan, where only those who are deemed the best are invited to play.

I’m not going to get into all the details of the event, since you should head over to the source of the news for that. Though it’s great to see that competitive gaming, especially the fighting game scene is finally getting more global exposure. Not only that, but how countries are working together bringing together larger events. I will definitely tune in when the time comes and I hope you will too!

Who doesn’t love themselves some Angry Birds?

I must say, I love Angry Birds the game (on iPod Touch/iPhone and Android devices) and this kid must be lucky to have one of the coolest dads around to construct him an Angry Birds themed birthday cake. Check this out! The kid and his dad basically play Angry Birds IRL.

Short review: Grado SR80i Headphones

I purchased the ‘Grado SR80i’ headphones a few weeks ago since I was curious on audiophile quality headphones. I wondered how these open ear headphones would compare to the already professioanlly iconic ‘Sony MDR V6’ closed back headphones. Well not to disappoint anyone and with fairness to each of the headphones, neither has had the many hours necessary to fully break-in, especially the newly acquired Grados. I also do not own a headphone amp to bring out the full potential of both headphones. Continue reading

EVGA GTX 570 Unboxing

I can now say goodbye to the 200 series and hello to the 500 series. Direct X 11 and all the eye candy I would need. Unfortunately I could not benchmark games such as Metro 2033 before so I didn’t bother playing it and a lot of other games that ran DX11. An article will follow this video in the near future and will be attached to this video after it is written. If you like these video subscribe or just plainly check back often for more content I promise to upload regularly. For now it will just be unboxing products until I can open up my schedule a bit more.

Mortal Kombat: Noob Saibot is back!

Thanks to the great success Street Fighter IV met in 2009, the fighting game genre as a whole seems to be in the process of a complete resurgence; with the likes of Namco’s Tekken coming out with the return of Tekken Tag 2, a pair of joint games with Capcom for Street Fighter x Tekken. (one using SFIV engine, the other with Tekken’s) So now we have Mortal Kombat going back to it’s roots with pure brutality and over the top gory violence.

With that said, a trailer for one of my favorite characters has been released; Noob Saibot makes his return to the series, check it out!

Cyanogenmod 7 RC1 Released!

It’s been mere hours since I finished my review of Cyanogenmod 6.1.2, and already the release candidates for CM7 Gingerbread are rolling

out! CM7 promises to bring all the delicious Gingerbread goodness to phones that do not yet have it, which is all of them, besides Nexus S!

Some CM7 specific features “…include a revamped and customizable lockscreen, a restyled music app, ‘phone goggles’, gesture support…” alongside all the vanilla Android goodness. Builds are rolling out to ROM manager now, or you can manually pick up the files over at the Cyanogen forums. I’ll be picking the new ROM up today and giving it a spin. I’ll be sure to let everyone know how my experience goes!

Cyanogenmod 6 Review

Rooting your Android phone opens up a wide world of possibilities, including CPU overclocking and of course root folder access. These features are rather tame, however, when compared to the adaptability and customization offered by custom ROMs.

Custom ROMs are modified boot images of the Android operating system. They allow a massive amount of customization and operability. They can also speed up and add features to an aging phone model, such as the G1 or OG Motorola Droid.

One of the most popular custom ROMs today is the community-maintained Cyanogenmod, which is currently in it’s sixth iteration, with a seventh based on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) rolling out in experimental nightly builds.

Custom ROMs often come with an Android Home alternative. Cyanogenmod comes pre-packaged with ADW Launcher, but that is easily changed, as I have Zeam installed, which is a Home alternative for older phones such as my Motodroid. Continue reading

YES! The long wait of what’s pretty much a decade since the last release of the ever so epic Marvel vs Capcom release is finally over. Fans rejoiced today as the official release to the third chapter of this series hit the stores today and everyone is locked in and learning the game; some for pure enjoyment, others for being able to beat up their friends, and a few guys like Justin Wong, Marn and friends who plan on further enhancing their legacies as competitive gamers battle it out for money, supremacy and absolute glory.
