The Android platform is THE most customizable mobile OS available on the market today. From themes to custom ROMs, Android phones can do it all. Every task is simply a button press away, and the opportunities are endless!
But alas, all your crazy widgets and wizbang hacker apps must be launched from a boring, bland vanilla Android homescreen. Blech. This is where the 3rd party launchers/homescreens come in, and there are an enormous variety available on the Android market. Some of the most popular launchers include ADW.Launcher (used by default in Cyanogenmod) and Launcher Pro, and while they deserve their top spots by virtue of having the most features, they are simply too heavy and bloated for regular use on some aging Android phones (Motodroid…ahem).
